Let me introduce myself.
I am a State of California Registered Civil Engineer who works in the Construction field. It’s a fancy title for me, and I am one who doesn’t like fancy titles. I prefer descriptions like the photo I created: wife, mom to three, daughter to aging parents, church-goer, crochet-fanatic, Star Wars fanatic, crafting guru and all around do-it-yourself-er, unless someone has already made it and shipping isn’t that expensive.
The most valuable thing I possess is my time. I have an amazing and hard working husband that loves me more than I can imagine. Life is not perfect, but I’ve been working on prioritizing stuff lately and this blog is now on the list. I have a quickly aging, diabetic and on dialysis mom, who I am struggling with keeping as a parent and not turning into treating her like a child. My father is the nanny to my children, and I think I meet every check on the list of “enabling” when it comes to taking care of my parents.
I am a realist, acknowledging my short-comings and keeping my mouth in check because of my kiddos. I need the Lord and am not afraid to say it. Did I mention I have issues?
My strongest desire in creating this blog was to prove to myself that I could do it, and keep it up. I have found too many full-time working moms who do not take care of themselves, who do not make time for themselves, and who give themselves entirely to their children. I’ve met the moms who have to ‘find themselves’ later in life because they’ve distanced themselves from their husbands, and when their kids grow up, they aren’t sure what to do. I don’t want that to happen to me if I get the chance now to do something about it.
I don’t know what this blog is going to look like yet. I don’t know what I’m going to post except that I love to create things, mostly because I think they’re cool and it suits me. Those are the things I pin to the “Handmade by D’Andra” board on Pinterest. When I pin something on my “To Do Another Day” board, more often than not, I set out to make it or try it.
I hope you enjoy reading this blog, and more importantly to me, doing something you see posted on it. Feel free to share your completed project photos with me. You are important, and I hope you know it.
